Accompanied by just their closest friends and immediate family – as well as some fairly notable fog and the most tremendous sunlight – Trey & Erin celebrated their nuptials with a quick sunrise ceremony, a few bites of cake and a champagne toast, and eventually some lunch at a nearby restaurant.

In an age when Pinterest defines what a wedding should look like and dime-a-dozen wedding blogs decide tradition, these guys turned a blind eye. And do you know what? It was absolutely them, and that – in and of itself – was pretty great.

Evan & Meg are planning an autumn-time celebration at Kansas City's St. Therese Parish and The Legacy, which is sure to be just downright fantastic.

Adam & Alyssa planned the loveliest, most sentimental and meaningful summertime nuptials at Kansas City's Guild (which looked like this). I couldn't have been more pumped to be an onlooker.

Nick & Natalie brought together roots from Chicago, Nashville, and the midwest, and tied everything together right here in Kansas City in a seemingly effortless combination of class and timelessness. Weather was ideal, personal touches were spot on, and just to throw the whole thing straight over the top, they had fresh donuts delivered directly to their dance party. Good gracious.

While being a bit off speed of our typical work – and our typical journal post – these photographs highlight a fantastic event put on by folks of whom we're just the fondest. Spectacle is the newest fundraiser for the Children's Center for the Visually Impaired. It's quite an event and quite an experience; an open fire grilling extraordinaire featuring the city's best chefs with Argentinian and Uruguayan vibes.
